Hello, Jesus,

My heart is bursting with joy at the sight of you in the monstrance! It's been too long since I've visited you and my soul recognizes the void I was experiencing. I am washed anew in the sacrament of confession tonight and feel worthy to sit in your presence again.

Your love and mercy are endless, boundless, and deeper than any abyss known. You are the Alpha and the Omega, yet you humbled yourself to become one of us. It's a reality I have a hard time grasping but I feel the joy of it.

I just want to sit with you for hours, gazing upon your face in the Eucharist, knowing you look back at me. I am grateful for the church community who waits to decorate until your actual birthday. She waits in anticipation, making your arrival so much sweeter. Oh, come, Emmanuel.

I imagine the anticipation of Israel during the 1st century. The waiting. The waiting. The waiting. Not knowing when you would arrive. Two thousand years later, we sing "Gloria in excelsis Deo!"

I took this picture of our parish's creche just before midnight Mass 2024.
