What are you trying to teach me, Lord?

The days are getting shorter and the temperatures are cooling. The season is changing. Time marches on, it seems. It is a strange world these days. Everything continues to seem off. People wearing masks. No one hugging or shaking hands. We all stand 6' apart.

The strangeness is the lack of familiarity and community, the lack of the physicality of life together. What are you trying to teach me, Lord?

I see people valuing their neighbors more, checking in on each other, delivering groceries, sharing conversations over the fence or down the hall. People are more flexible and less rushed. What are you trying to teach me, Lord?

I see people supporting each other, promoting emotional health and well-being. What are you trying to teach me, Lord?

I see people seeking you after long absences or for the first time. I am so grateful they are opening their hearts to the working of your Spirit in their lives. What are you trying to teach me, Lord?

I am grateful for the conversations and chances to share my joy of Christ with these same people, who, 9 months ago, would have been too busy and uninterested to broach the subject. What are you trying to teach me, Lord?

I am grateful for your work in my life and in the world. Continue to teach, Lord. I am listening.
